It’s been a busy spell at Rotmell, with plenty happening across the farm as we move into autumn. We were delighted to welcome 25 farmers here recently for a Pasture for Life event, focusing on fencing for regenerative grazing systems. It was a brilliant day of shared ideas and practical discussions, its always good to get out on the fields together and talk through how best to care for the land and livestock.

Meanwhile, back at the hen houses, one flock is just about to move on. Thanks to the Hen Welfare Trust, our older hens will be rehomed into loving back gardens, which always feels like a win. The new flock will arrive in the next few weeks once a full deep clean and preparations happen in their home.

On the hills, winter preparations are well underway, with fencing keeping us busy. It’s tough but satisfying work, knowing it will keep the cows and sheep safe and well-managed through the colder months.

And last but not least, we’ve been delighted with how well pork sales are going in the Pantry Shop. Seeing the community enjoy our produce is a huge boost and a reminder of why we do what we do.

It’s been a season of change and preparation: hens moving on, fences going up, animals getting ready for winter, and shelves being filled in the Pantry. Farming life is never dull, and we’re grateful for the support and energy around us as we head into the months ahead.
